The warden discovered damage to the building and its safe on Thursday. Intruders accessed the church on Church Street early in the morning, drilled into the safe, and stole silverware, including chalices. Ancient doors were also damaged.
Rector Chris Davey expressed gratitude for the support received, including messages from the US. The silverware is marked with smart water for identification.
Suffolk police are investigating and seeking witnesses. Anyone with information should contact Suffolk police, quoting reference CAD 66 of June 27.
