Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said six fire crews and an aerial ladder were sent to the burning property, in St Saviour's Road, at 21:00 GMT on Saturday.

They were able to extinguish the flames but the roof had collapsed.

The road remained closed on Sunday as the fire service investigated the cause of the blaze.

A fire service spokeswoman said the owner of the property, an annexe to the former St Saviour's church, had been contacted. Leicestershire Police also attended the scene.
