Police are appealing for information after a brass lectern was stolen from a church in Hemingstone.
A large bronze eagle that sits on top of the lectern had been moved near to the door of St Gregory’s Church in Church Lane and officers believe the burglars planned a second visit to remove it. It has now been moved out of the church to a secure location.
The lectern itself is a heavy item and would probably require at least two people to move it.
The theft took place between 12 and 23 February Anyone who can help the investigation is asked to contact Suffolk Police, quoting crime reference 37/11806/23.
