Police Scotland said a 17-year-old boy was arrested and charged on Wednesday following a theft from a church in Union Street, Aberdeen.
It is understood the arrest came after human remains - reported to be a skull - were found.
Police Scotland said a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
